This is a texture replacement for the player in Quake. It replaces the player in
Quake with a female warrior.
The following files are included:
femplayr.bmp -for the player.mdl (the Quake player model)
h_female.bmp -for the h_player.mdl (the Quake player head model)
femplayr.txt -this text file
The new textures incorporate the changing colors of the player in Quake. The player's shirt
color changes the color of the female player's blouse under the chain-mail and the player's
pants color changes the color the female player's hair. My favorite is red shirt with
blond (yellow) hair, but many combinations look cool.
These textures are original artwork by Dan Bickell, with the exception of the original
Id Software art of the gun (which I have recolored) and the gun flash.
This .zip file may be distributed freely so long as it is unaltered.
Authors of "multiskin" type mods may also use the textures.
Clans wishing to use the texture as a clan skin may do so. Please email the author if
you wish to make any modification, and I will be happy to assist.
To use these textures you must first have both the player and h_player .mdl files extracted
from the pak0.pak file which is in your Quake\id1\ directory. If you have the .pak file
unpacked with a utility such as unpack.exe, these .mdl files will be located in the
quake\id1\progs\ directory. (where all .mdl files are) Once you have these .mdl files
extracted, then you must import the proper texture to the proper model with a utility
such as QuakeME v.2.3, MeDLe, or Adquedit. I recommend QuakeMe or MeDLe because they use
.bmp format.
Once the texture is imported to a model, remember to save the new model. You can either
save the new model over the old one in the quake\id1\progs directory, or place the .mdl
files in a new directory such as c:\quake\femplayr\progs\. Note that the "femplayr"
(or whatever name you choose) directory must be parallel to the Quake\id1\ directory.
(ie. directly under the Quake directory) Then there must also be a "progs" directory
(this MUST be called "progs") under your new directory. In order for Quake to use the new
.mdl files instead of the original ones, you must use the command line parameter as follows:
quake -game femplayr (or quake -game "whatever you name your directory").
If you have problems figuring this out, email the author for help.
